Right now.....

I am extremely impressed with my husband.  He came up with the idea to go to the San Clemente High school football game and hand out stickers and flyers.  Before the game he started with the stickers and then put flyers on all of the cars.  Now the game is over so he is handing out more stickers.  He also put up signs.  He is there all by himself too.  He has been working so hard lately and I just wanted to say how proud I am of him.

I love you Joe thank you so much  for all that you do for us.  And for working so hard to help pass Proposition 8.  We love you a ton!

I'm impressed. I'm amazed at how aggressive people seem to get that are voting no!

1) Being gay is not natural.
And real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, air conditioning, tattoos, piercings and silicon breasts...

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay.
In the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior.
People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. Lamps are next.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all;
Hence why women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed;
And we can't let the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children.
So therefore, gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our population isn't out of control, our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children
Since, of course, straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion.
In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home.
Which is exactly why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms.
Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

hey anonymous commenter,

if you are so bold as to share your very different opinion the least you could do is say who you are!

and it's simple, marriage is only between a man and a woman. it has been since the beginning of time. it's one thing that won't evolve. if gays want to call it something else thats fine, but it's not marriage.

Dear Anonymous

You’ve copy & pasted several points (probably from a cynical and misinformed complaint website), but I just want to address number 10 and the idea of "adapting" or "evolving" to embrace new forms of marriage.

You are absolutely right, with time, there are certain “things” and policies in our life that need updated or reconsidered. But this applies to issues of functionality and conveniences, not issues of morality. Issues of morality are unchanging principles that political or social rhetoric should not attempt to modify.

where you are incorrect is in your assumption that marriage is an issue that needs to be updated or evolve to align with a contemporary gay lifestyle. The absolute fact is that the human race was purposely not designed to prosper or procreate with members of its same gender. Man+man or woman+woman cannot reproduce without the assistance of the opposite gender. Is that a fluke in “the system?” Of course not. This is one area of life that will NEVER evolve: humankind is not asexual and must live by certain principles for survival just like any other living creature.

So regardless of your theological beliefs, human beings were developed to pair with the opposite sex. Any form of relationship other than this is hedonistic and temporary. So why is there a need to reinforce it with sanctioned marriage? Why do we need to lie to ourselves by trying to pretend that a homosexual familial relationship is the same as a heterosexual one? They are NOT the same. Promise rings and private ceremonies are fine for the homosexual community, but don’t pollute the marvelous principles of marriage between a man and a woman.

Although I do not agree that people should interfere with the freedoms that everyone has to conduct their own lives and sexuality as they please, NOBODY has the right or power to redefine divine design.

People can still choose to be gay. People can still choose to be straight. Proposition 8 is not about changing your ability or “right” to be gay. It is a proposition to safeguard the ideals and facts I mentioned above: Marriage is and always will be the legal union of man & woman. Children need to know this truth.

America has lots of conflicting religions and lots of conflicting beliefs, but none of them can change the intended nature of the human race: A human race that can coexist and love each other, while still standing up for the right thing.
